Hi. I am a qualified teacher in geography and cspe. I finished my hdip last year. I have first year maths in my degree and now want to do a course to allow me to teach maths.

Does anyone have any advice on what path to take regarding colleges or courses? I would like to do it part time as I am subbing at the moment.

    Thanks in advance :)

If you're in Dublin You could do it part time through DIT (probably skip the first year as you have it to a high enough level, I think they've stopped running the 1st year anyway as it was basic stuff) here's the link .HERE
For the teaching council you would need it up to stage 3 as an (ord) degree..

There's always the Open University but you might end up spending a fortune... the TC could assess your 1 st year modules and see what modules in the OU the teaching council suggests you add on!!! There was a thread on it here a while ago but it seems that the TC tell folk different modules depending on their degree course content.

Theres the part time professional diploma for 'out of field' teachers which is part distance study and online sessions through UCD/UL Here ....although I think you need to be teaching maths in your school. In saying that a colleague who did it this year said there were teachers on the course who got lost on the whole minus by minus = a plus thing and dropped out!!!
