iSight not detected since Mavericks

This one is odd and seems to be quite common. The problem is I have tried everything listed on the apple website and appleforums to try and resolve it.

    To summarise what I did:
    • Verfied and repaired permisssions
    • reset smc
    • In terminal used an OSX Daily tip: sudo killall VDCAssistant
    • re-installed OS X

Yet still this image appears on Facetime, Photobooth etc.
    there-is-no-connected-camera-mac.jpg

One I did notice is that iSight is missing from the Utilities folder in Finder. In fact there is no trace of it whatsover on my mac. I believe it is usually kept in a 'USB' folder inside Utilities - Can someone verify that please?

I may be able to go into a TM backup and restore that folder. (I upgraded this MacBook Air from Lion)

    Any help appreciated.

Does it show at all in System Profiler?

^^I haven't heard of system profiler before what is it?

I also created a new account just to see if it would make a difference and still nothing. This cannot be a hardware issue! iSight worked perfectly on Lion and then stopped working once Maverick was installed

To see System profiler or known as System Information

Click on the Apple Menu -> Hold down Alt - Click on system information

Look for Camera on the left hand side..

I just came across this article on the Macworld site, if the OP still has their original problem, it may help.

Thanks for that, he seems to be describing my problem exactly. I will try those tips and see if they work.
