do i still need to sign on?

hey,i left my job about a year ago,went back to do a part time course which i finished before xmas,i'm now lookin for a job but its proving difficult,as you would expect.
Anyways i havent been getting money off the dole as i recieved a sum of money in a will,and i know that i wont qualify if i get means tested,im comfortable money wise,living wise etc etc..but ive been told i still need to go in and sign on at least once a year,is this correct??can somebody explain this process to me please??

You may be signing for credits.As you have no income as such you should enquire in your local office if you can claim.JSB.

i have been means tested and dont qualify,but is it still necessart to be signing on??

It also ensures that you remain entitled to certain benifits ie optical treatment
