    Hi Everyone,

    Heres my story.

I have a very rare medical condition for which I was seening my local GP for but he no longer works at the clinic and I now have a new Doctor who is completely ignorant.

I explained to my new GP what the condition was but she said she had "never heard of it" therefore it did not exist yet I have to live with this condition 24/7. A week after I first spoke to my new GP I asked her if had even researched the condition and she told me she had not even looked into it. Then she implied I was mentally ill and tried to refer me to psychiatrist.

The problem I have is physical not mental I tried to tell my new GP about top Doctors in America who do recognize the condition as well telling her about studies that prove the condition is real. But she completely ignored everything I said and treated me like I was a child.

As I said the condition I have is very rare and not very well understood. There is currently no accepted treatment for it, my old Doctor said the only way to treat it is through "trial and error" that means experimenting with different drugs to see what works.

Can anyone recommend a good Doctor in Dublin who is open to learning about a rare medical condition ? And will actually listen to what I have to say. Bear in mind that it will take the Doctor some time and effort to research my condition. It seems to me that many Doctors only want to treat patients with conditions that are easy for them to understand and do not take any time to investigate.

Could you elaborate on the condition? May be easier to find a sympathetic or open minded doctor.

Could you get a referral to a specialist in the area?

My experience with doctors in Dublin is that they are more likely to refer than try to treat you. When I lived outside of Dublin they looked at the patient as a whole not just the illness.

Not a criticism. Just a comment. I like both styles.

What part of Dublin are you in?
