I have a xoro saorview and multi channel box. I have retuned the channels a number of times however i am still getting the message to retune on the screen of rte1 (whereas on the other channels i get the name of the current programme and the next programme). This means i cannot set to record anything on rte1 or rte plus 1. Same on the epg menu _ it says rescan required.
Has anybody had a similar issue and if so how is this resolved. I can't see anything online or in the user manual.

RTÉ1,+1 and RTÉjr are on a new frequency (Mux2), the temporary versions are going on April 2nd. Since Mux 2 was launched there have been many similar problems reported here. It is a signal issue, a problem with your aerial and/or cabling.

What type of aerial are you using, indoor/outdoor?

hi and thanks. I have an indoor aerial in the attic linked to a satellite dish on the roof outside.

Some people here who use attic aerials and have reported similar problems have moved the aerial within the attic to optimise reception but others have had to move it outside.

You could try out an amplifier close to the aerial to give a boost to a weak received signal but if the signal is too weak a booster won't improve it.

Thanks. At least now i know where to start to resolve this problem and will contact the guy who set it up for me.
    Many thanks.

I had that problem setting up a 3rd saorview box for my sister.
An aerial attic was in use also.

Interestingly the 1st 2 boxes did not have that problem. So in my case it was down to the box.
After a bit of googling I found the 3rd box was not saorview approved and that was the problem.

Have you tried a different box?

[edit] My unapproved box was a TVstar and this is the link I found about the issue:

Thanks for that. I am pretty sure the Xoro box is saorview approved, will have a look at the manual when I get home tonight.
Thanks also for that link, I will have a look at it.

The Xoro receiver isn't Saorview approved but that shouldn't matter, it can be down to the internal tuner and how well it can handle a weaker signal, this can vary from receiver to receiver. Your receiver is receiving the Mux1 but the problem is Mux2, getting a better signal to the receiver will sort your problem.

You'll need to delete the old versions of rte, rte+1 and rte jr, and move the new retuned versions into position.
When you scan terrestrial channels into these boxes, they're stored at the end of the existing channels Epg , or behind ch 1.
    Same with the ferguson Ariva.

Glad you are sorted. RTE really need to remove these channels from the MUX at this stage as it is only confusing people.

By the way, the Xoro website, never go there, malicious content all over it.

Good to hear you got it sorted, were the Mux 2 channels already stored at the end of the epg? Had not come across this before.

Aye, when you do a terrestrial scan, it drops any ch's found at the end of the epg rather than overwriting the existing.
    Arivias do the same.
Saorview approved, boxes and tv's will overwrite.
