calving pen drains

    Hi all just wondering if anyone has handy tips for drains from calving pens. I find that the caving pen can use a lot of straw. It has 3 walls and open on the 4th side. Does any one have drains under the straw. If so how do the work. Or do you just depend on the straw to soak up the water

    Allot of lads say using turf mull or wood chip under the straw helps by soaking up allot of the p!ss

    Would saw dust be any good under the straw?
