*Requires a US postal address/sales tax charged on delivery to some states

    en-INTL_Surface_Win_8_Pro_128GB_9UR-00001_SP1.jpg

Runs a full version of Windows 8 Professional, 128GB Solid State Drive, 2GB of RAM, i5 Processor, HD screen - absolute bargain in my opinion - available from Microsoft's official eBay store as *manufacturer refurbished* but come with 1 year warranty anyways.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Microsoft-Surface-Pro-with-128GB-Memory/171228789798?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item27de07fc26#rwid

These were originally close to €1,000 - so if you've any relatives in the US or use a postal forwarding service it's very worth it, currently €660 in PC World with limited stock - touch cover can be bundled with it for an additional $39.99 at the bottom of the page, 64GB model is 50$ cheaper also.

I've been looking at shipito.com, the issue is if you don't declare the full value of the consignment and the parcel get's lost you'll only be reimbursed for the amount declared - so you are liable for the full amount of import duty if the parcel is inspected

It is great deal. What shipping option with shipto did you choose and how much did it cost you if you don't mind me asking?

I sent it to the Oregon , as it says you don't pay tax on the item there, $8.50 to use the mailbox and I haven't got the bill for the postage to ireland yet.

Another US postal service is Comgateway, based in Oregon too

Ok, thanks. Would ya mind giving us a shout when you do get the bill so we'd have an idea of the overall cost?

    Hi

Unfortunately I missed this. Does anyone expect this offer to become available again. Also, what is the total cost after taking into account shipping to Ireland and custom taxes?

    Thanks

    Thanks

That listing mentions that the custom taxes to Ireland are expected to be about $126.

Yes, so use a US postal address as other people have in this thread. It's the new stupid global shipping program from ebay you have no choice but to pre pay for taxes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 474 ✭✭theroomisonfire

If I was to get it delivered to a US shipping company for forwarding to Ireland, would I not still be liable to custom Taxes and VAT in a similar amount to that which Ebay have calculated?

I'm not sure, when I need anything from the US I usually send it to friends houses and then they forward it on to me marked as gift. Never had an issue.

If you don't mind, can you please post deatils of the total cost once you receive the tablet (i.e. after postage and custom costs). Thanks

Just a quick update, the parcel is in my mailbox at shipto. Filled out the details they wanted , eg address to send it,customs.
I said on the customs its a gift and valued at 200$ .
I used dhl express and,the total came to $55 .
    Now I just wait

    Hi

Have you received the tablet yet? How do you find it and were there any additional custom charges? How much did it cost you in total?

Got one on these. Not sure I'd recommend it. The FN key is located where control is generally on a normal windows keyboard. Always confuses me even after a good months use. Pretty decent on a table, pretty poor on my lap, not very sturdy. Keys are half decent and battery last ages too.
