Any members on here or people who have played it recently? Thinking of heading out for a couple of the opens seen as it's holding Inter Club.

Is it in good condition at the moment?

It's never in bad condition, brother played it at the weekend and said it was in super nick.

    Played it yesterday.
Greens are in fine condition. Parts of the fairways are fairly heavily divoted, but as there's placing at the moment, this is not a major problem. It is dry underfoot with a few small pools of water where the land is below the water table. Some of the teeboxes are in poor condition too though and you may find you have to place your ball a couple of times to get a good footing on some of them.
    Overall, very enjoyable though.

    Billy is bang on there.

The ball gathers in places and divots are very bad there.

I asked for a sand bag there a few weeks ago, but they couldn't give me one as they were going missing. I guaranteed I would bring it back - but I couldn't get one, was funny.

    Greens very good as always.

So non qualifying or placing just on fairways?

    Cheers

    Senior Cup:eek:

I think they have some plans to remedy some or all of the above in time for the Senior Cup. Not sure when that is on.

Yeah, the divot bags are a funny one. I always fill mine several times and rather than get bothered about slow play up ahead, I'll do a bit of gardening to pass the time. Flinging a handful of dirt into your divot after a fat shoot can be very therapeutic too. :D
Guys who have carry-bags don't use them and many others that have them on their trolleys forget to use them and return the same dirt they started out with.

Was always interested how good golfers would get on around there.

    Would like to see scores.

    Cool,

if you have any feel for scores after - like number of birdies and pars could you post them.
    Maybe not possible ?

The short par 3 holes will be easy birdies for those lads , you'd imagine. Some of the blind holes will be another story.

Yeah. It's not on until June but can see a good few starting to play their weekly opens to get used to the place.

Only played it the once myself, was in good condition on a perfect day.

In Corballis, more than any other course I've ever played, it's all about staying out of the rough. In mid-June the rough will be 1 meter high in places and thick. It's nigh on impossible to get out of if you do find your ball. Probably easier to play in winter when the rough is down.

The secret to Corballis is to play the right iron off tees -
    Only 4 holes you can and need to drive on. (3 - 12 - 15 - 16 )

grew up playing here so not much more to say thats not been said already.corballis held the junior cup qualifying a few years back and in fairness to corballis they had a really good team which they won the final qualifying against other top links clubs on the northside of dublin.

on the day donabate g.c parctice area was used for our warm up so no excuses.scoring was high due to very long rough and very high winds so leave your ego at home:)

Played 12 holes today- it really is a great hidden (cheap as chips) gem. The front 9 new par 3s are so good. Green keeper had the flag hidden far right top corner on 4th and front left on the 5th with the wind pushing towards both flags which on a sunny evening today was just a perfect golf picture.

    Great holes - most days only a S/W on (4th) , maybe a PW on 2nd one (6th)

Hit a perfect pw on 4th pin hunting but hit the green and rolled into back non bunker ( bunker with no sand??)

6th was same club and flew with a draw shape (part my swing and part wind!!!) towards hole bounced and spun back giving me a two putt par.

It is a grass bunker - was and is not an unusual feature of a Links course. In fact this is how they will deal with many bunkers on courses that can not afford to keep them.

Yes a pw is too much on 4th. Need a GW (52) or SW.

Was just thinking that the first 3 par 3s there can be played with wedges most days (1) (4) (6). Unusual - in fact they would be a bit too short for most golfers.

It may have been too much club but it looked bloody gorgeous as it went towards the flag- positive thinking!!
