Much better than the old model, but not as good or as cheap as the Hyundai i Pro van.

If I go with any van it will probably be the Auris. The Hyudai wudnt have a great re-sale value. Just need to know there is know major flaws I should know about.

We have a 2012 Auris with the D4D diesel engine; its a nice driver plenty of power and very economic, about 46 MPG urban & 55+ MPG on a long trip, the new model is basically the same under the skin, we have had no mechanical problems

Just switched into an Auris Van (new shape) from a 2010 Qashqai commercial.
The Auris feels better to drive, nicer switchgear and is more economical.
Looks a lot sharper than the older Auris as well (of which we also have a couple). Some nice touches like DRL's and USB port for iphone etc.

It's a bit too early to tell weather there is any major flaws with the new auris. It suppose to be( and would want to be tbh) a much better car than the old model which was a poor car and was very cheaply built. The 1.4 d4d (provided it's similar to the old model) is a good unit and is quiet and refined. It is a little lacking in power however and was previously mated to a soft-ish gearbox which some had a tendency to develop noisy bearings.

In saying that I think I would opt for a Hyundai over one too. Hyundai are not the bargain basement cars they once were. The cars themselves have improved dramatically, as has the resale value. The resale value still mightn't be as good as Toyota but it's not far off imo. The product Hyundai is offering these days though is superior to Toyota's offerings imo.

Predicted re-sale on the iPro is the same as the Auris Van.

The iPro also doesn't require servicing every 5 minutes.

You're rather behind the times on that one! Hyundai's standing with Joe Public is the same as Ford or VW these days - it will find a buyer no problem. Maybe not Toyota levels of resale value, but not too far off, and it's a cheaper car/van.

They make cars/vans that are Toyota-like for reliability, but are just nicer to look at, be in, probably to drive as well. Also, they represent better value for money, with the five year warranty and more standard equipment. They're still a little cheaper to buy, too.

All this into consideration why did toyota get "van of the year"? ha

Bit odd it having the 5 doors as a van? Is this a first for a hatchback?

No KIA done it with the previous cee'd and I'm sure others have done it as well. Defiantly not a new thing. :)

The current Focus van is a 5dr as there is no 3dr Focus presently.

Yes I also viewed the Focus and this is true.

Renault did this in the 90s with the megavan. Doors didn't open though and handles were blanked off (badly)

Megane coupe didn't lend itself to a van version and there was no 3 door hatch

I thought they just carried over the older generation Astra van based on the estate? One of my neighbours has a 12 reg Astra van (estate version).

They did, we had some 131s at work, the 132s and 141s are all new model though.

I test drove a few of them and found the Auris the best. Placed my order and all :)
