Orange County National is a must play. Its a 36 hole golf complex which was the home to the PGA Q school finals for many years. It's about 20 minutes from the Davenport Area and the experience and the service is as good as you'll get anywhere in the States.
Another good course at reasonable rates although a little out of the way is Diamondback near Lake Marion. Head south on US 27 and east on SR 544
When possible I also love playing Dubsdread which is the oldest golf course in Orlando but a good hours drive from Davenport.
Enjoy where ever you get to play.

I played Providence GC back in October which is down beside Davenport. Really good layout, well worth a trip.
Haven't played anything else quite that far south, but slightly further north there's dozens to chose from. Try Orange County National, there's two courses there, Crooked Cat and Panther Lake, both are superb, but Panther Lake is really special. PGA Tour Q School used to be held on both courses every second year or something. Very reasonable green fees also, we got out at two days notice for either $29 or €$39 incl buggy (can't remember which). Its normally around $59 I think.

The Legends Course at Orange Lake Resort (just off the I192) is a lovely track also, can't remember the green fees there.

Edit: there's another legends course also, Legends Golf & Country Club, on Highway 27 that's very good, and green fees are reasonable too. its one of the few hilly courses in Orlando (hilly is relative, for "hilly" read "has a few slopes" !!)

    Thanks Guys,
Was looking at the courses and was hoping to get out first and finished inside 3 hours but it seems the green fees are much higher then. Did you rent clubs and what was the quality/choice like. I really need a stiff shaft in everything and have found in the past that a lot of the stuff you can rent is poor quality and all regular shafts, if so i'd almost give it a miss.

I agree with other posters that the Orange County courses are both well worth a visit. Diamond back is a bit of a hidden gem, a very good golf course thought not quite the experience that you get with some of the premier Orlando courses.
Southern Dunes would be another option for you and is well known for it's extensive bunkering.
Best of the lot for me though is Harmony reserve which shouldn't be too far away from Davenport either
