Happened to be at the airport today. Showing the kids what it's like to stand under an Emirates A330 on short finals. But as I was driving alongside 28. I saw a US Air jet take off. But something was wrong. Eventually it turned right and stopped climbing. By the time I was driving down the other side of the runway. It was on finals and followed in by Rescue 1 and all the fire appliances. So anyone know what happened?

A US Airways Boeing 767 en route from Zurich to Philadelphia diverted into Dublin this morning. This may have been what you saw landing.

The inbound medical diversion arrived only a few minutes after the scheduled US DUB-PHL flight departed so it appeared to be the same but they were seperate aircraft.

Thanks lads that explains it. Quite a coincidence. I did think time from take off to landing was fast. Oddly enough considering how much time I spend at airports particularly Dublin. This is the first time I've seen an emergency.
