iphone 5 problem

Hi, my iphone 5 went dead last night and i didnt start carging it until about 2 o clock today, however its still charging as we dpeak and the phone still hasnt come back on. iv made sure the carger works and have tried holding down the top button and nothing! does anyone have an idea what might be wrong?

Lots of things to try - first try a different power adapter - cable could be damaged. Then try a Hard Reset (Hold Top and Home button for 10 secs).
After that its restore the phone from DFU mode (check youtube for tutorial on this - search Restore DFU mode - this can loose data if you havnt backed it up so do it as last resort) - the guys over at the IPhone forum might have other ideas.
