Dent in driver door, Peugeot 206

    Hi,

I've done the most stupid thing today :( Trying to park in Dundrum, in a really tight space and rubbed up along the pillar, and kind of got stuck between pillar and car. Anyway there is quite a large dent around the handle on the driver door. The lock is working fine, car opening from inside but handle not opening the door from outside. Does anyone have any idea roughly how much it would cost to get repaired? Its a peugeot 206. The dent is roughly football size with some scratches in the paintwork.

    Thanks for any advice.

Any chance of a few pics?
But even then, just go to 2 or 3 bodyshops and get quotes.

might be a case of getting a replacment door from a breakers . Worth calling some breakers aswell to see if they have any 206 doors in your colour and how much

the bar at the inside of the handle is probably off or the clip or inside handle broke,,,

a replacement door would be the easiest solution

I would guess 5 or 6 hundred, but shop around and check out second hand doors.

I dont know about this model but in general a new door could be 600-700 and a second hand one 150-200

Be as well getting a second hand one but then factor in the cost of fitring, spraying and possible rebuilding interior of the door

No idea - try ringing your local Peugeot dealer.

Hey, I hope I uploaded the pics ok!

Looks fairly bad but maybe not that bad. A body shop can push it out again.
Possibly the handle mechanism is broken or separated, shouldn't be too hard to fix.
I wager the paint job will be the costliest part.

Biko would you have any idea how much it would cost to push the door back out and fix the handle? I sent pics on to a couple of bodyshop garages so would like to have some sort of idea of what it should cost.

    Thanks a mil

Nope, but not crazy expensive. Worst case scenario, fix it yourself.

If you took the inner door card out you could push out the dent your self. More than likely the inner door latch cable hooking to the handle from the actuator is also lose or has come free and should be relatively easy to hook back into place if it is not broken.

Seriously, follow the guide here, should be 5 mins to take of the trim and maybe another 10 mins to pop out the dent from inside and pop the lock cable back into place.

It's an easy job and i have done it several times before for various cars. A good 20 mins of effort could solve the lock issue and take the dent roughly out put there will be some cracked paint issues afterwards which will need to be touched up.

That actually looks do-able, thanks for that! Do you reckon that will definitely work? Any mechanics in the Bray area that would like to give it a go for me?!! :P

Your looking for crash repairs/bodyshop, not a mechanic

The dent is doable. If the cable from the lock or where it connects to the handle is not broken then it will be a simply case of popping the cable back in.
