I have just spent the last 3 years in New Zealand and Australia and I came home as my visa's were done and I am in time hoping to move onto Canada or the states.I have just been offered a job in a bar on minimum wage the same as what someone who has never worked in a bar would get, this despite years of experience in 4 countries including a good knowledge or cocktails, wine & the quirks of bar tending as well as 2 employee of the month awards in different countries.

Am I wrong just to settle for a minimum wage job(theres no wiggle room on wages) or should I hold out for something better?

Take it and use it as an opportunity to move up in that bar or look elsewhere for a more senior position

Take the job - and quit as soon as you get once better. That's pretty much how minimum wage works.

Unless of course someone else is offering you more money now.

What country are you being offer a minimum wage in? Bar work in the US always pays minimum wage due to tips. Getting into a bar with good tips is therefore important not what they pay. It really matters too.
One friend of mine works in a very small bar in New York but makes a fortune in tips. Another guy I know makes about a quarter of what he gets working in a bar in NY also. Much bigger bar but less customers.
