i am sooo bored with my style, basically just jeans and ballet pumps and jumpers.. im so sick of it.

does any one have any tips on how to revamp your style without going too overboard??? like i love the boho style, but honestly i dont have the body type, well, the lower body type.

Id be a 12-14 on bottom and a 10 up top, but my legs are short and kinda chunky. and i think ballet pumps are the only shoes that make my legs look that bit longer. boots and even ankle boots, i feel like a heifer!!
I wouldnt wear heels around town and to college and stuff cos they are just not comfortable, even the slightest heel.

and with most cool styles, especially the lovely boho kinda styles, we just dont have the weather at all!! haha
And one more thing, i am a student on the back to education, so i am pretty broke after rent and bills!! :(

any tips on how to change my style on a serious budget??? in my town the charity shops are terrible, like really mainly older womens fashion. im only 28! or how to get that boho look with out being too self conscious? like tips on how to just get over that!!

    thank you!! :)

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by boho style, but if you are more comfortable in jeans and tops then a way to build on that could be to wear plain tshirt or cami and a kimono style top over it. New look have some inexpensive ones at the moment, and I'd consider them quite boho. Another style that I would consider to be boho would be layering jewellery, like long necklaces or bracelets or rings. Penneys is somewhere to think of where you could buy inexpensive jewellery to try this out. Or I even find ebay good for finding things that are not expensive at all, especially jewellery where you don't have to worry too much about sizing.

One thing I do is if I see something I like is search on pinterest to see how people are wearing it So I can see if I could see myself wearing it, so like this for example.

To be honest the best thing is to find something you like and wear it. Start by wearing things at the weekends if you feel like it's too dressy for college and then once you get more comfortable in it you wont see it as too big a deal to wear it during the week.

I completely get where @poozers is coming from. I'm a little bit older but am completely bored with my 'style' of late.

I really like the examples you posted but honestly, and @poozers eluded to it in her post, that you can't wear this kind of thing in Ireland. The weather doesn't lend itself to lovely vest tops with 3/4 length sleeve kimonos. I know I'd be freezing and no-one would ever get to see underneath because we're bundled up in jackets.

come Summer I'll definitely be channelling this look but if you had more practical, i.e. warm & comfortable, suggestions for this season (Winter / Spring) it'd be hugely helpful.

This winter hasn't been the worst, but I get what you mean it's still pretty cold. I never leave the house without wearing a proper wool coat, but underneath I get away with a scarf, cardigan and dress or top with jeans/skirt. So when I get to where I'm going, usually what I'm wearing underneath is warm enough. This winter I have pretty much been living in boots, I've a pair of high knee boots and ankle boots as well.

So I would usually wear something like this (with heavier tights and knee high boots) or this, or this (with jeans) or a dress and cardigan something like this.

I would layer a lot as well, so if I have a top that is a bit light I would wear a cami top underneath and a cardigan over it. How I try and make my outfits a bit more interesting is with jewellery and scarfs, I have a few long necklace/pendants and some statement necklaces as well. So if I'm wearing a roundneck top or jumper or dress I'd wear a necklace like this or this or a long necklace. I love the way this person wears jewellery, but some of it is a bit OTT for me, so I would get ideas from her.

I don't know if that's any help at all. Long story short, I use jewellery and scarves to 'change' my outfits.

wow, some great ideas there. thanks so much!!! id be quite conscious of my legs tho, and think knee boots and ankle boots really make them look chunky, but pumps give them that extra bit of length! i love boots tho, but my legs arent slim enough. ive a very long body but short bottom half, and long cardigans make my bottom half look even more short. but thanks so much for the tips. @miss-p, i will definitely try your idea bout trying things on the weekends. that is a great idea. i suppose i'm just in a comfort zone now. thanks everyone for the tips :)

Flats will definitely work with any of those looks, or brogues and definitely shorter cardigans or jumpers will work too! I get cold feet so I need to wear boots during the winter or I'm freezing :). I think it depends where the boot hits your leg, or how wide it is at the top. My cousin would always have said that her legs are chunky and she's found that slouchy boots suit her. So I think there's a boot for everyone :P. Every year I do the dreaded search for boots, until now and I found that marks seems to suit me. I have literally tried on hundreds of boots in the search :P.
    Best of luck! :D

Speaking of style revamp'ing. Is this appropriate for a 38 year old? With thick black tights, chunky knit jumper and wedges, of course!

The skirt is lovely! :) Personally the only thing I'd be worried about is if it'd be too short. It looks quite short on the model, but she's 5"9' so it mightn't be as short as it looks. If you have the legs for it go for it :)

I'm 5 3 so definitely haven't got the legs to wear this sans opaque tights! I wear things on my hips too so it sits halfway up my thigh, i.e. normal short skirt length.

It is nice but as I said, I'm 38 and it might look ridiculous!

I think if it flatters you, and you are comfortable in it then you should go for it. I think the way you suggested to style it sounds lovely. I'm in my twenties though, so maybe I wouldn't have the best opinion :)

A person in the 20's has as much of an opinion on things as someone in their 30's so thank you for posting.

Those links you gave to the Pinterest pages are awesome. So much inspiration and I've noticed that she uses a few core wardrobe basics and rotates them around for different looks. A capsule wardrobe is the technical term, I think!!

Yeah I love her look. She also seems to wear a more 'everyday look', I'd follow a few fashion blogs and their clothes are definitely more going out or special occasions...and they are always wearing heels. I find Pinterest is great for finding different outfits to wear or different ways to wear your old clothes :)

I brought back that Forever 21 skirt. In the end my nerves got the better of me and I decided it wasn't a skirt for me. It is a bit young.

I exchanged it for a lacy black mini instead. Much more age appropriate and versatile.

    Thanks for the feedback though.
