    Hi there,
I'm currently doing a psychology degree. Will be splitting for the summer in a couple of months for quite a long break.
Does anyone have any suggestions for any supplementary part-time courses I could do over the summer to complement the work I'm doing in the degree? I've already done a couple of counselling and psychotherapy courses so would like to try something different.
    Suggestions welcome, thanks!

It might be worthwhile doing a bit of volunteering rather than another course. If you are hoping to pursue psychology then a bit of experience is no harm. I think that actually working in an area is the best way to find out what you like and what you would rather avoid as well.

The ASIST course is good if you want to do some courses. I'd also suggest looking into something related to mindfulness. It could be a course but there are also hubs and centres all over the country in which people just meet and practice together.

You could also do some reading. I'm not suggesting course materials but are some general books related to psychology that are entertaining and informative. I really enjoyed The Emotional Life of Your Brain by Davidson and Begley. I remember reading The Brain That Changes Itself a couple of years ago and it really stuck with me. It really illustrated neuroplasticity very well. You may have noticed a theme in my reading material...

You're very good in responding, thanks! I've some volunteering organised and I'm quite into mindfulness so I'll look into something for that. I'll definitely look into those books and the ASSIST.
Thanks again! I really appreciate it!
