Live music at home party? Unrealistic expectation?

    Hi Guys,

I'm hoping to get live music for my husband's 40th at home in Navan.  There will be 40-50 people attending.  I'm kinda thinking of a guy or two with guitars playing music that goes from "foot-tapping" to "just can't help dancing", including a mix such as: 90's, Michael Bublé, U2, Take That, Simply Red, The Stunning etc.

    The bad news is:
    a)  Its in 3 weeks on Paddy's weekend, Sat 15th.
b). The maximum budget is €200.

What are my chances?  Any advice?

    Thanks in advance

You might get one person willing to do it for 200, but 2 for 200? Not likely.
It's a private party, to which they'd have to supply all the gear (I'm assuming here of course), probably longer than a regular 2/2.5hr gig, and as you say, it's Paddy's weekend..

You could head to a few pubs and ask some of the entertainment if they'd be up for it. You could get lucky.

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking about calling into pubs alright, just a bit limited time wise. I wasn't thinking of any longer than 2 hrs as I have music and a friend who's a dj lined up for after. I also don't think they'd need a mic or an amp or anything as we had a trad band for a communion party last year and it worked fine. But thanks for your comment. I appreciate it.

Try get a solo guy who plays to backing tracks maybe? Some of them can be decent.

Thanks for that advice, any other ideas where to source them, besides pubs?

Google, YouTube? They should have pages.

think solo with backing tracks would be your best bet to get in music, or just your local with entertainment already, it would be hard to get anyone for 200 on paddys weekend if they are regular giggers, one of the biggest and best money earners of the year
