Was wondering if anyone knew of a good motor dealership that are not so called "del boy traders"! Want to see what they can trade for a car valued around €6-€7.5k

What car have you to trade in?
Btw, I doubt any dealer will be up for a swap..

Well I am willing to take a hit and give them the benefit! Opel astra hatchback...

No dealer is going to do a straight swap unless you're willing to settle for a car worth a lot less than your current car.

Well that ain't gonna happen ha! Well what about an upgrade, trading the astra adding 1k to the purchase of something? What are they like for that type of thing?

Once you have money to spend, they'll be interested. I'm not entirely sure about €1k with your Astra, you may still not get something as valuable or good.

Best thing to do is talk with them. What kind of car do you want? And what year/engine/spec is your Astra?

Looking for a 4/5 door car, the hatchback is back breaking when trying to get the lil one in to her car seat! Might look at getting a jeep or or if it's a car pref Audi or Bmw. Astra is 1.4 SXI 07 standard.

Sell the Astra privately then shop around.

Easier said than done Colm! Been trying to sell it for 6 months now, car is too much of a stereotype to sell that easy!

    You're asking too much then.

Have had it on several sites but no takers, matter of fact I've had more interest in one day on adverts than 6 months on three other sites!!! Lol

It's your ad is wrong. Poor pictures, no good info, over priced etc etc

You need to really drop the price a lot to get any serious interest.

Well I veered away from the detail jargon about the car and kind of just threw it up. Did all the works I.e. breakdown on my previous ads but again nothing! You're probably right about the pics though, just quick snap shots, should take some better ones tomorrow!

People need good info however its the price that is stopping people looking further. You're asking more than dealership money.

    It'll simply never sell.

Doesn't matter how nice the pics are, its the price that is killing it. If I was looking for one of those I wouldn't even ring someone looking for €7k.

The value of these cars advertised everywhere is at this price! Few hundred in the difference based on mileage condition etc

Have a look at this thread on selling a car. A Guide on Selling a used car in Ireland

To be brutally honest, your description on the BMW advert isn't much better.

    Yep.

I reckon it needs to be about 5k to move.

Donedeal search for 2007 3 door Opel Astras

The first three examples are all under €6k. Anyone asking anything over is overpricing the car, or its a dealer sale.

Only put that up to see if it would bite. Cheers for the guide.

Well the signs were obvious for the first two, mileage was through the roof, red sport one was nice but big knock cause of the mileage!!! Interior on second was not good. 3rd was ok but mileage a bit high too

Switch back to Done Deal. Myself, and many others have never gone/regularly go on adverts.ie. I think it's only something like €3 on DD.
Add Better pics and mention any servicing/timing belts done etc.
