we lost around 4 tiles from the edge of the house last Wednesday.now before anyone suggest it we can't afford to get someone in to repair it as we are skint.i have some spare tiles and popped up there last weekend but what got me was how are the bottom tiles curved?i know there is a half tile at the very bottom and then a full one but when I put the full one in place it is as straight as can be and can't see how it can be curved!

    Hey bugsntinas
Is it a slate rather than a tile? Just when you describe a curve it points to slate rather than tile.

If so, there is a little tolerence for bending the slate to fix in place.
When you place the slate how much of a gap is there to the existing slate/timber lath? A photo would be handy.

    hi there.
ye I think it should be slate I think they are fibreglass one too.when I placed the one on there must be at least an inch maybe more of a gap.will try a get a pic but the weather isn't great at the moment and no one to hold the ladder.

Right, that would be about max it will bend before damage or snapping but certainly can be done, and when in place will settle into its position with no further problems.
The only thing that may catch you out is the age of the slates that are being fitted, the older they are the more cured and wont bend without snapping.
A few new slates will only set you back a few euros.

cheers for the reply.i have a few spare in the garage what I might do is use some weight and try and bend a tile and then fit it in a week or 2.
