I am thinking of replacing my motherboard, ram and cpu for a newer version and are looking for suggestions. Currently have a AMD Phenom X4 920 and 8gb ram.

    1. What is your budget? €280 - €330

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Programming, some occasional graphics and a few games.

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Yes, Disk Drives, Dvd burner, Case (atx mid tower), PSU, Graphics Card

    5. Do you need a monitor? No

5a. If yes, what size do you need. N/A

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? 1920 x 1080, no upgrade planned

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? 250GB SSD / DVD-burner / WiFi card / Universal card reader (to front).
Yes - Dvd burner, Universal card reader

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No.

    8. How can you pay? Credit card/Paypal/Bank transfer

Absolutely no reason to get new RAM if you won't be overclocking.

Get an Intel i5-4670 (not K edition) and pair it with an ASRock H87 Pro4

Totals around €255 on HWVS without the Geizhals discounts. A bit less with. No sense in spending more.

If you do decide to get new RAM too, another matching set with your first 8GB for a total of 16GB should run you anywhere between €65 and €90, thus leaving you pretty much on budget.

Well hes prob gonna need to anyway, as chances are its DDR2 he has with that set up.

    Is it op?

Ah yes, it would be. Apologies. Didn't actually look at his original parts other than the amount of ram.

You can pick up an I5 haswell non k for about 170 , decent mobo 80 and ram for 60 .

    Or go AMD 8000 series. 130 ish, mobo 70, ram, 60, and an ssd 60 - 70 .
