Roughly 155000 miles. Sure its only just about run in at that mileage. I drove a 1.4 petrol focus yesterday with 315000 miles. Bosses A4 has 275000 miles on it.

Well done, but to be honest 250k km is expected from modern engines these days. Hope you get another 250 out of her.
My Scenic petrol gets close to 140k miles (210k km) and no work done to the engine yet. Failure rate = 0% for me. And who said French cars are unreliable???

315k miles? That is an achievement:eek:
How many engine swaps so far?

Its a 02 focus Original engine and gearbox, The driver is doing ~750miles a week commute.

In my opinion doing that mileage in a 1.4 focus is a form of torture :pac:

Sure there's 424k miles on my carina, 1995 2.0 diesel non turbo.
Still on original engine and clutch

Original clutch? Have you owned it from new?
Do you use a clutch at all?
Toyota should use the clutch in their next commercial. Well done.

I passed 160k miles in my 04 avensis petrol last week and not a bother on it.

The horror of putting up 400k in that.

IME (generalising here I know) - but people with cars like that from new frequently don't drive other cars - or at least not very often.

So the diesel Carina E (to them) is just completely normal.

I fully expect a Honda Accord 1.8 will feel like a rocket compared to the NA 2.0 diesel in driving at the moment.

And why wouldn't it - its probably got close to twice the power :D

On a serious note - when you drive a car like that (NA 2.0 diesel) you just accept that your not driving something with massive power - and take that into account when planning overtakes and the like - and just go with the flow.

It probably felt the same after 300 k miles as it did after 120 k.

my Aunt used to have a Hillman Hunter - and she had it for 12 years from new. Bearing in mind it was a fairly late model Hunter* - I personally think that was a test of anyones patience.

I doubt she was overly bothered though - otherwise im sure she would have changed it sooner.

*meaning she would have been seeing nicer/more modern cars around the place when HER Hunter was still quite new

My focus just passed 130k km last week. It's a 1.6tdci so that's a pretty big achievement :pac:

Mine rolled over to 160k Miles there during the week. Wouldn't be worried yet :P

Isn't there a big mileage tread on here somewhere?

My shed (04 octavia) rolled over 128000 miles in the last week.

260k miles on my td primera at the mo. I'll be very sulky if it doesn't do the same again. The last car had 465k miles up, a Picasso. And a petrol at that. Still drove grand as well. And I sold it, not scrapped it..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 813 ✭✭✭Satanta

171k miles on my 04 Touareg. Just recently done some serviceable items that should see.it through another good few thousand. The car drives much nicer than my mates A6 too which has 70k less showing on the clock.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58 ✭✭forestgray

    376k km on my 2006 2.0 Avensis.
Original engine, clutch and turbo as far as I can tell. I've had it from 140k anyway.
Going great, can't see any reason to change it. ..

Dear god, who on earth did you find to pay for a Picasso with 465k miles up?

It still flew along! Them 1.6 Picassos are as tough as old boots - well known for it. A Latvian guy bought it, admittedly for only €500, but still. It was NCT'd an taxed for a couple of months too. Borgain..

Probably thinks anything bigger than a 1.4 is a sow on fuel.

On a serious note - it makes no sense to me to run a 1.4 petrol Focus for 750 miles a week.

Wonder how the fuel savings would stack up - if you put a Mk 2 Avensis diesel on the job instead.

A good one should be well up to 750 miles a week plus - once you avoid the 2.2s

Bit over 300k kms on my 96 Honda Legend.

    44k miles on my Wolseley.

114k miles on my MK1 Fiesta.

Have a 99 avensis on 285000 miles. Clutch could do with changing though and pressure plate feels work hardened. Only got a cv joint last year. Gave up putting links and bushes in it though. Eats them.

    411k kms on my '05 Mazda 6, 1.8.

She's still sweet as a nut Joey.

In my experience putting spurious droplinks and bushes in these is a waste of time and money. Better off getting the Toyota ones.

It'll probably soon need gearbox bearings. They're noted for this at this kind of mileage.

    280k kilometers (174k miles) on my 2005 407 1.6HDi.

Did replace the clutch when the flywheel went about 20k ago.

Great (albeit thirsty) engine IMO - fair play!

Thirsty for sure, not so bad on national roads, but the gearing in 5th isn't great for motorway cruising. If it was mated to a 6-speed box I reckon it'd be a fantastic improvement.

Ah totally agree, it rev's a bit too high in 5th - I was craving a 6th gear when I had mine. Never gave me a bit of bother when I had it, nice sound too ;)

My wife's '05 Focus 1.4 is almost at the 300,000 kms mark. It has been 100% reliable apart from a starter motor and the wheel bearing the rear driver's side. Still original brakes/shocks/clutch i'm sure as it was just 3 years old with 91,000 kms on it when we bought it.

I have a '97 1.8 Laguna that has 191,000 miles on it and it's off the road since Nov '11.

I also have a '98 Micra that has 174,000 kms on it so for surviving that much in it I probably deserve a medal! (Only had 8,000 kms on it when I bought it)

You think that's bad, on my '98 Micra the original front pads weren't changed until the car was 15 years old. Still has the original shoes on the back
