What is an 02 money card? and does the one that come with this have a €10 value? If it's just a €20 top-up for €15 then it's not half price.

ETA: I see it's a pre-paid Visa card and the top-up is on the card - I mistakenly though it was a phone top-up. Offer available until the end of March. Note there are fees associated with using the card.

02 cards are normally a fiver afaik.
Plus its a Euro or two to load cash on them, so its a pretty good offer.
handy for buying stuff online, and can be used in atms, or spar, but not Aldi as I discovered to my embarrassment the other day. Lucky there was an ATM nearby!

Is there a limit to number of cards you can get? What happens if i get one, withdraw all cash & dump it/ never use it again...will i still have fees to pay?

If I understand it correctly :


Eligible customers will receive their O2 Money Card for €4.99. The normal price is €9.99.

So you get 20 euro on it, pay 15 euro but also 4.99 for the card and when you use card online - another 2.50. So you are getting 20 euro on O2 card for 22.50.

Even if there is no charge for card, there is stamp duty of 2.50 (online) / 5 (online+ATM) so you might get 2.50 or nothing free.

If that is the case, advertisement in window is misleading. Or am I wrong?

Normally €9.99 for card and €20.50 for the top up of €20 therefore both for €15 is better than half price!


I don't know where your coming up with €2.50 or €5 unless you mean annual govt stamp duty as using the card at point of sale online or in store is free

Yes, you're correct.

Another point to note is that the fees for topping up in a Payzone outlet, rather than an o2 shop have increased.

This is a good bargain alert. Just don't use it at atms as it costs on the €1 fee and extra stamp duty.

And if I only want to buy a card for €20, do I need all the ID they request?

Do they have fees to top up in the O2 shop?? The payzone fees makes it expensive to put on small amounts ... that is €2.50 or so for topping up €20 on card is a bit steep. Same fee if u put on €50!!

Also... what is the minimum you can top up these days??? Is it €20 in payzone shops??
