    Hi Guys,

Ive finished up work just before Christmas time and I will be going without work till the 5th of March ( as I have found a new job)

Am I entitled to backpay, money from the welfare, as I never claimed dole or collecting stamps?? If so what number should I contact??

    Thanks in advance

It depends. Afaik if you left voluntarily then you can be disqualified from jobseekers for up to 9 weeks. A deciding officer will make a judgement on that. If you did not leave voluntarily then you should definitely go to your local office and enquire.

You can only claim from the time you sign on, so you will not be entitled to any money for January, even if you did not leave voluntarily.

First of all have you actually made a claim for jobseekers. You do not say in your post. If you have and you want your claim to be back dated then call into your sw office and fill out a UP45a. You may need to have supporting documentation showing that you were looking for work for this period. If you havent already made a claim then you need to do that ASAP and apply for backdating at the time of application giving a reason why you didnt apply straight away.
