Suzuki Vitara phantom leak

I bought a 95 Vitara here in Oz and it keeps leaking coolant but only when it's driving not when it's ticking over..

There is never a puddle underneath, I had a mechanic take a look at it and we found a split pipe leading into the head and we replaced that thinking it was the problem, but it's still happening..

Also there is no rhythm to the leak e.g I have a half hour drive to work and if it's full at the start of the journey sometimes at home time I have to fill it but after my drive home it could be still full the next morning..

It seems to waste it more sometimes and less other journeys.

It doesn't seem to be blowing white smoke and the oil looks to be perfect so I'm not sure if it's leaking into the head...

But I'm going threw about a gallon of coolant a week so it's definitely going somewhere!

    Any ideas?

Try heater core, pull carpets may be wet underneath as carpets are synthetic. Have someone pressure test the cooling system hot and cold. May be water pump. Is there a stain at the weep hole in the pump

Did you change the cap? If it's only leaking when running it could be evaporating through a cap that isn't sealing properly.

    Change which cap?

The mechanic is coming back Monday evening so he'll look at it again, also he reckoned the head looked like it was done recently so he said that shouldn't be the problem.

    The radiator cap.

Running the engine will increase the pressure inside the cooling system and a bad cap can let out the steam.

    Not recommended but reapa 200.

Its 70 euro but you only use a tiny bit. I had a berlingo and it sealed the interior heater. No problem for a year.

Its for big central heating leaks but it works
