    Hey all,

I'm looking to build a mid-range gaming rig with the intention to turn it into a high end pc with subsequent upgrades over the next while.

I've put together what I think is a good base but would appreciate some input as I haven't built a pc in a few years and am not really up to speed with the current offerings.

    1. What is your budget? €700 or thereabouts

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming mostly, with game development as a hobby

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes [EDIT] I'm not including windows in the budget (which is just for hardware)

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

    5. Do you need a monitor? No

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? It'll be connected to my TV, so 1920x1080 is the max resolution achievable. No plan to upgrade.

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? HDMI out to the TV so that will take care of sound. Will need a keyboard and mouse but I need to think about this a bit more as I'll be using the PC from the couch, not sure what my options are, for e.g. possibly a trackball instead of a mouse. Not sure what to do about a keyboard. I'll be playing most / all of the games using a controller () so it's mainly for use inbetween unless I can find a viable alternative.

Bluetooth would be a nice to have but I'm not bothered if it's missing, not sure what my options are there.

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Yes but not straight away (hence the choice of CPU)

    8. How can you pay? Bank Transfer/Debit Card

    9. When are you purchasing? Next few days

So this is what I've chosen so far. I was looking to get a CPU that will last a few years.

I plan to upgrade the graphics card regularly so I'm looking for a mid range option to stay in budget that will last me a year or so.

I don't have the foggiest about motherboards, are there better value options out there?

I think the rest should be ok? I haven't included windows, I need to shop around for that.
