Instore ATM machines without cash

Our local convenience shop has a very useful atm but it has been out of cash on a couple of occasions recently.

Apparently the contract for refilling the machines was transferred at the beginning of the year from one security firm to another. The new company don't respond in a timely manner to refill requests from the shop, even after multiple phonecalls.

Is this a local issue (south Dublin) or are people experiencing similar problems around the country?

You should probably contact the bank that owns the ATM and let them know.

The shop shouldn't have to contact the security company for a refill, the bank that owns the machines knows exactly how many notes are in the machine and their systems should be set to trigger a refill request when the stock of cash drops below a given level.

It sounds like a not very busy ATM if the bank doesn't care if it's frequently empty. Either that or the security company who's taken over the contract to do the refilling haven't got their act together yet. The new company probably outbid their competition by submitting a lower bid which almost always involves a degradation in service - 'pay peanuts, get monkeys'.

I worked in a filling station and we put the cash into the machine. It was a standalone atm. It only ever had 50 euro notes because 20's were much needed in the tills.

Do this, from what I know of it, the shops have an "agreement" (for want of a better word) with the bank who runs the ATM that they'll keep the ATM in service and containing cash so the bank will probably get on to whoever is in charge of the convenience store and see what the story is. It may be just that they need a bit of a kick in the proverbial to keep the pressure on the security company to get things sorted.
