A man in the US state of Iowa lost his job after using a forklift to dislodge a chocolate bar from a jammed vending machine, according to state records.
Robert McKevitt, 27, was working at a warehouse in the city of Milford when the incident occurred last autumn.
Mr McKevitt said he deposited a dollar in the machine, but his Twix bar snagged on a spiral hook.
He then used an 8,000lb (3,628kg) forklift to shake the machine, according to his employer.
"That machine was trouble," Mr McKevitt told the Des Moines Register, saying he banged on it with his hands but to no avail.
Has anyone else got so mad with a machine that's not vending that you lost your job?

I fill vending machines. They would work perfectly if they weren't vandalised. Products get jammed due to machines malfunctioning from shaking, kicking and lodging objects into the machines......all to try and get something for free.

Back in my younger days I worked nights in a place with vending machines. You'd give it a little shake and a whole tuck shop would fall out. Kit kats and the Lucosade sport bottles came out the easiest.

Looking back it probably added up to 100 of euro in theft.

I was tempted to do that to a vending machine in work that wouldn't "vend" after I put my money in (the refund button didn't work either.) But as work was a Garda Station I decided it was a bad idea! :D I rang the vending company to complain and the next time they were around to fill it up they gave me a few free bars. Which was nice!

Always shake the machine at the top. Rock it back and forth GENTLY as not to set off the alarm but not too far forward either as not to land the entire machine on top of yourself.

I have to question this. Its a bit of a cop out blaming the customers for machines not vending correctly. I work in a bar and the CIG machine constantly gets jammed and trust me, nobody shakes or rocks it.

Use to shake it everyday in school, was a goldmine of Nestlé til they nailed the back of it to the wall.
