The issue us that I bought a 2008 mini in October and have been back several times with the car and each time they don't fix it they simply switch off the engine light and tell me it's been fixed so as it stands I've had a replacement car for FIVE weeks and I've always had to chase them up they've never given any explanation I've asked for a refund and have been refused....

Have you had the car checked on a computer yourself to see what the issue is recorded on the ecu?

Did they give you a explanation on the issue ie what is causing this and what they did to fix it?

How long have you had the car?

Was there any issues with car ie performance, noisy engine or just light on?

I have had a light come on in a car before when the fuel tank was not closed properly. tightened up the cap and turn on off the engine a few time then drove a small bit and light went out never to return that was VW.

I have diagnostic cables and can test for you to read any codes to help i am in crusheen

Yes because I was so frustrated travelling up and down to galway and never actually coming out with the car repaired I took it to my own mechanic which told me the cam shaft was gone-I informed the garage that this was the actual problem but they just continued to fob me off-they used Xmas as an excuse, then they told me they had to send it to a mini expert which they were never able to actually name. Basically they just wanted to let my 6 month warranty run out(which is next month)so they wouldn't have to go to the expense of repairin the car. With the amount of hours I've taken off work to travell down to these guys as they refused to meet me half way as their guy that normally does this for them was either "sick" or "busy" conveniently I've decided to look for fuel costs and have lodged a claim with the small claims court. I've also looked for a refund for this car but that's never even been acknowledged.

Any news on the Mini PP?
I am looking at a car there myself. Hoping to get it this week if my mechanic checks it out.
But if that's the way you're being treated, I may reconsider.

You'll always get a great price on a 2nd hand car from them....
Unfortunately there is no aftersales service whatsoever....

    Hi All,

Just mailing in regards to Al Hayes motors, I've come across these posts about them and the hassle @Pisseypossey has recieved is similar to what im experiencing at the moment.

I'm now in the very same position, bought a car off them 3 months ago and its caused me nothing but hassle, (it has been up in the garage getting repaired for one month in total for problems like, cam bus, wheel alignement, no lights working on the dash, fuel injectors, fuel gauge not working etc) and their customer service is appalling. They tried to hand me back the car the last time with multiple faults on it (injectors gone) and told me it was fine onlt that i demanded one of the mechanics to look at it.

Just wondering did you have any luck in getting a refund back? I'm trying to go down the same route because ive just found out now the car has being clocked. In May 2012 there was a 140,000 miles registered on it and in May 2014 I bought it with 120,000...cowboys!! I found the figures courtesy of motorcheck.ie

Just wondering if anyone can give me any advice on this situation?? There impossible to deal with up there.. I was told by the owner himself "your consumer rights wont work here", "what do you expect when you but a cheap car".. this is what im dealing with!!

    Any help greatly appreciated!!

    How much was the car?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3 CLUE90

4,500 Audi A3, i had to take out a loan to buy it!

I think that is too much for the small claims court. I think you should call to citizens information and after that possibly a solicitor.
Another option would be hang around the garage and make noise any time he goes to sell a car but this could be harmful to your health.

I've already lodged a complaint with SIMI but i dont think thats going to do too much to help me. Yeah i think I'll do all 3 contact citizens info, my solictor and when i head up to the garage tomorrow cause an unbelievable fuss.

Bought a car from the tuam office. Thankfully I got a full refund. Car was somehow doing mph on a kph clock.
Glad my wife didn't go through a speed camera for the week we had it.

They could not explain it so as the mileage could not be confirmed they had to take it back.

Honestly demand your money back, I never got mine back. Cowboys is exactly what they are. They screwed me over...and simi assured they would assist meon helping me get a full refund but they were also useless. Sorry to tell you this:(

    Yours, Niamh.
