    Dundalk

I have been looking through the card tomorrow and the two bets I will place are:

    6.15 Shabra Emperor
    9.15 R/F Cullentry Royal/Kalann

Can anyone see potential thorns in my side?

    6:45 Dundalk - Oor Jock 14/1
Ran a blinder to be 2nd at a big price at Laytown in September when trying 7f for the first time in over 2 years.
Has been dropped 7lb for his 2 runs since, including beaten 2&1/2L over 6f at the Curragh where he stayed on right to the line.
Back up to 7f tomorrow off a career low mark, and has the benefit of a 7lb claimer who already has 4 wins at Dundalk this year.

Tough card. Shabra Emperor has run nearly 50 times and won once. A low grade handicap on the sand dunes on a friday night is a likely place for him to bag his 2nd win but he's about as likely to shake off these 15 other runners as haley's commet to hit the course during racing. The 3.15pm at steepledowns looks easier to solve than this race, IMO, but best of luck with it.

Btw. I generally have a stab at the Friday night card, usualky the lucky last, with little sucess. Trying to find winners in Dundalk is very difficult, IMO.

Agreed, it's a betting graveyard for me. :(

3.20 Exeter - Lundy Sky. Still generally available at 14/1

This fellow is well treated on his old form but has been absent since pulling up in April, but that risk is well covered in the price. Excellent record on course, and other undulating tracks, distance and on heavy and down 6lbs since runner up in this race last year.

Would think the met office would need contacting if Shabra Emperor wins 6.15Brady could cause a serious hot air front.

I have a feeling its dennis hogan day in thurles today. Missie Ella (17/2) winner of race last year goes in again without a win since the same race in 2013. Rorys brother (12/1) and drive on Jim in the 4.15. I suspect it will be rorys brother with the claimer on board.

This day last year he had 2 winners on course..his stable come in to form at this time of year also.

Marie Des Anges in Exeter in the mares handicap is another which appeals to me and is running off a mark which she won her first chase but over hurdles. Her price is too big at 14/1 (was this price last night anyway).

    All selections ew

How he's even kept his license is beyond me, the frequency he runs some horses is bordering on animal cruelty.
This one is running his 5th Friday in a row, and Shabra Charity was run 18 times in 6 months at one stage

In fairness, they don't actually RACE that often! Most of the time it's just a gentle gallop around the course and back to the stable.:)

    Friday Flutter on a double.

    Caoimhes delight @ evens : Thurles 4.15

    Strategic Heights @ 5/4 : Dundalk 5.45

Reckon they both will go off odds on, if so i've done my bit and its up to them to deliver.

    Anyone see any real threats?

Hot maiden in Dundalk tonight 7.15.
I feel Punta Marroqui is fully entitled to outrun her price.
    Decent bet on the filly.

Shake the Bucket is getting my €10 this evening in the lucky last at Dundalk. Has been running consistently and has Cd form. Ran well a couple of weeks back and finished 2nd despite being held up early on. If he breaks well and is ridden a little closer to the action tonight, I can see him carrying my hard earned schillings to victory. Before then, a few beers are in order.

:pac::pac: only kidding. I have had horror stories backing fillies and mares over the years and am just wary of them. They tend to be a little tempermental, unlike the poor unfortunate (gelded) males. I know nothing about the horse so don't let me put you off it.

Ah yeah fully aware but the price was enticing enough to take the chance, tis a Fillies maiden so hopefully the other wans are temperamental tonight.

Two for small stakes tonight at Dundalk

    Pierre D'or 12/1 in the 6-45 & Muck n Brass 10/1 in the 8-45.

Muck n Brass has dropped significantly in the weights and is now miles below its last winning mark

I have reached the high stool plenty early. This is a good sign.

Muck n brass certainly has been given a great chance . Has carried big weights well before , this looks his best distance .definitely last chance saloon .

No joy, well beaten but I'd recommend people take a look at the race, the winner American Girl looks very smart, beat a soon to be 90s rated filly with consumate ease.

    Ballyadam Brook 20-1 ew 9.15
Beat two good horses last time it ran here, down in weight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 449 ✭✭hawkhead

Kalann for me in the last.

Ran a nice race last time out after a bit of a break if he improves a bit for that he should go close here

FMOB ! just watched it now and explains a lot.

Backed the hampered horse, followed it online until it traded at around 1.01. went back to check account update to see no winnings added. thought they maybe hadn't weighed in or a Steward's Enquiry. neither ! check fast result and expected it maybe lost by a nose maybe. then I assumed I dreamed it traded so short!

one of them days. then backed the useless fumbling French to score 2 tries:mad:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Just watched it 37k done at 1.01 too. I feel sorry for the owners of the horse, handicapper is going to still smack him up a bit and they don't get first prize money. I'd like to see a bit of leniency there
