Taxing A JCB For The First Time In 30 Years

My father has an old JCB and I'm looking into trying to get it taxed for the road. He never got the tax book with it. There's no proper number plate on it, the reg is painted onto the top of the cab and can just about be deciphered. Is it going to be a hard job getting this taxed? I'm hoping it doesn't cost a fortune (and more than the machine is worth:rolleyes:)

If you have the correct number, you are flying. There is a form you can get from the Gardai or Motor Tax office regarding lost documents. A Garda or, I think, a Peace commissioner has to sign it, and if the number plate matches the councils records, you will get a new Brown tax book. The last registered owner's name will be on the brown book, plus your, or your fathers name. This will probably mead a manual search of the records by council staff, so might not be instantaneous !
