Have people no manners in this country?

I wanted to send an item via registered post at the post office today and I was queing for about 15 minutes. There were about ten people with buggies collecting their childrens allowance and another 10-15 collecting their dole. While I finally reached the teller i requested an envelope.

As i was filling out the envelope she asked me to move asside while she could serve the other customers. I objected to this since it would only take me 30 seconds but she insisted. When I complied with her request she called me a 'w$nker' under her breath.

When I filled out the form I had to wait until she finished serving another customer. I eventually gave her the envelope and she asked did the item have any value. I said it was worth 200 euro and she told me that the maximum she could register it for was 35 euro.

I thought to myself why did she ask then? Then I said to her if this item goes missing what recourse have I got? She told me I would be refunded 35 euro. I didn't agree to this of course, paid for the envelope and left while she mumbled more obscenities under her breath.

Following this I went into Home Base to buy insulation tape to cover a crack on my laptop. I was in the middle of asking the shop assistant where the tape was located and an old woman cut me off while I was asking him.

At this point I got angry. I said he will speak to you when he is done dealing with me. She said that's some service. I said to her that it wouldn't take long and she said oh you're a customer to which I gave no reply.

Sounds like you don't have any anyway if you had to take your bad post office experience out on an old woman.

I was asking the guy where the tape was and she just cut me off. It was clear that I was a customer.

So you encountered 2 people with no manners.

Well, one and someone who misread the situation.

And you deduced that no one has any manners?

That's only applicable if you're collecting the dole.

People with good manners are few and far between. I used to let it slide but now I say my piece, queue jumpers I find are the most rude and mostly middle aged people who think they are entitled.

    Yeh. Sure she did.

Let's stop this before it begins.
