Booting to Freestyle 3

    Hey everybody,

    Can somebody please write up a simple tutorial for booting to Freestyle Dash on a JTAG? I've tried to follow loads on the internet but can never get it to work. I can run freestyle installer as a demo from the normal dash but it just loads freestyle instead of installing it. I can run freestyle itself from xexmenu and it launches fine, but whenever I try to install dashlaunch it says the kernel is incompatible and exits. I think I'm on the most up-to-date kernel and dash so can't understand why it won't work. If there's an all in one installer or something, that would be great. I feel like an idiot for not being able to figure it out myself.

    Thanks!

    What's the Dashboard version and what's your Dashlaunch version?

    The first thing to do is get Dashlaunch installed, use the latest version (3.11) which was released on the 18th of January 2014. The latest supported dashboard is 2.0.16537.0

    Once you install Dashlaunch successfully you just copy over a "launch.ini" file to the root of your hard drive. You can find a sample launch.ini below
    [QuickLaunchButtons]
    Default = Usb:\Freestyle\FreestyleDash.xex
    BUT_X = Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558

    [Settings]
    nxemini = true
    pingpatch = true

    Just ensure the path to Freestyle.xex is correct and when you boot the console it should autoload that XEX. BUT_X/A/B/Y is not required but can be useful. You need to wait until your controller syncs before pressing the button though. Hold RB to skip the launch.ini file and boot to the NXE dash.

    Not sure if you spotted this thread or not, but it should cover what you want to do - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=85979502

    Thanks guys, got there in the end. Think I was using an old dashlaunch installer by accident. It seemed to be configured automatically when I installed it. On a side note, which emulators are working well on the 360? I saw a dreamcast one was making waves recently
