repeater for Diseq motor?

I've a 1m dish mounted on my garage, with a single cable connected to my receiver.
I'm thinking of building a home media box and attaching to this dish, but I'd rather not have the sat cards powering the motor, for power reasons mainly, I don't think it'll be good for the longevity of the cards to be powering a 1m dish. It's also about 20meters to the dish. I've blown caps on cheap sat receivers before, and I think it's the strain of the motor that's the problem

I was hoping that I could attached some device inline on the cable, that would take the weaker diseq signal and repeat it with more amp to the dish. I have power in the garage, so I can use mains power.

anyone got any ideas/suggestions? I do want to avoid 36v motors, and I have working motor and it's setup up, tracking the arc correctly.

Spaun used to sell an inserter which would pass on the correct 13V/18V and Diseqc signals. But they no longer sell it - try emailing for alternative or old stock?

Other option is to supply power directly to the motor:

If I'm reading this right, why don't you just keep a satellite receiver looped through the satellite card or attach the satellite receiver to the motor to position dish and connect the satellite card directly to an output of lnb?
I done this with an old haupagge card as it wasn't man enough to turn my 1.1m.
If its an enigma receiver you wouldn't even have to have the receiver connected to a TV as you can access channels via web TV to position dish.

At the moment, I don't have a receiver, as the TM 1600 I was using, no longer moves the dish. I'm trying to keep to one receiver, i.e. the card in the yet to be build PC, and de-clutter the sitting room. Even the Technomate box was very slow in moving the dish.

Maybe there's an alternative to the Spaun power adapter.

    What I have
1.0 Meter dish (don't want to change)
H-H Diseq dish (not adverse to changing) SG brand
30m cable buried under tarmac and cement, with last 5meters running through shed, so that's where I can add power to the system
TM 1600 No able to power motor, even when it was, it was too slow.

Pic shows the Motor and the dish on it's mount on the shed. It's not moved an degree in 3 yrs, despite being wide open from East to West, with no sheltering tree. I've seen 36V motor systems, but they involved either new dish, or a new mounting, but since I know my current system is wind resistant, I don't want to change

just as a thought, have you tried another receiver to move the dish? im wondering when you say it moves slow, if there is a problem with motor or cable?

Cable is fine, no issues with weak signals, etc.
Motor was fast when I had tv and receiver in the shed while setting up the dish. Got slower the longer the cable run got.

I think some caps went in the receiver, I didnt bother investigate cos I'm replacing. I tested with another receiver, and the motor works ok.

Stab Italia sell a standalone Diseqc generator for moving a Diseqc motor - about 80 euro.

Better value to buy a second hand receiver. Make sure it's tuned to a channel on Horizontal polarisation when moving between sats, and the 18V will move the motor more quickly than a channel on vertical (13V).

    I was looking at

I think it's similar to what you linked to, in my case, I want to have something to plug into the cable, near the dish, and forget about it. Adding a second receiver, just to move the dish, won't let me control the dish from HTPC receiver, so I won't be able to do records.

That's no good - it's for use with a Diseqc only receiver such that it can control a 36V motorised setup.

I have a vague recollection of seeing a Diseqc motor which was able to take a separate power supply - I'll give a look and get back if I can find it.

edit: can't find it. You might consider an USB DVB-S2 unit with its own separate power supply e.g.

Would that still be powerful enough, even with wall power, I'm loathe to over load or strain small electronics? Experience tells me it's never good.
