    Hi All,
I am an Irish girl who has recently moved to Brisbane with my boyfriend who is a permanent resident. It is our intention to convert my visa to a permanent resident under a partner visa later on in the year.
I am desperately looking for work at the moment in administration/receptionist type work. Since I moved over to Brisbane in January, I have sent out almost 200 applications, all to no avail. I am wondering if anyone else has had any bother with getting a job on a working holiday visa?! I think that many employers are thinking that anyone on a WHV is not reliable or commited. I have no plans to travel and I am settling in Brisbane for the foreseeable future which is quite hard to translate to employers here apparently. Obviously having no job also has led to not meeting many people around the area which isn't ideal.
If anyone has any contacts that may have suitable job vacancies, please let me know.

    Thanks :)

I'm a perm resident looking for the same type of work and I'm not even getting pfo's for any of the jobs I apply for. I've got 13 yrs experience and great refs but its not doing me any good. This time of year is quiet anyway, you have all the mums who just sent the youngest to school returning to work plus the Uni's just started back. My Ozzie friends say getting local experience is very important so why not try doing something different like the service industry and using that as a springboard to admin work. The casino is hiring as are the people who run the catering/services for Suncorp. Also if you just use seek you'll be in a massive pool, try dropping in your resume to businesses and call some temp admin agencies. Best of luck with the search!

Hello Aveen, I hope you have secured a job. WHV are not looked upon favourably by many employers. So I suggest you consider obtaining a job in retail where there is significant demand. volunteerqld is a good website. You need to visit potential employers in person. Try Workcover QLD careers.
