Hey all. I am very tempted in trading my car in for a Toyota Avensis 2.2 d4d luna spec model. Maybe UK reg. Aiming for a 2009/2010 reg, trading in my 07 Opel Astra diesel. Seeking advice from ye all as to what i should look out for. Any tips or comments good or bad gratefully appreciated. Thanks.

2.2 is not as good as the 2.0 but i wouldnt say run away from it. It has a known issue with blowing head gaskets but compared to german cars which snap timing chains and blow turbos it is not desperate bad. It is all relative.

I'd say avoid too. There's better options out there tbh

Is it a timing chain in the Avensis or a timing belt? Any good points about this car?,its the Luna spec that persuades me to it compared to aura, terra etc...

If it is an 09 then it is a chain I think. The belts were replaced with chains a good few years before this.
