Braces

Hi I just want to share my experience of braces. My braces were put on last March 2013, I am 50 this year. I had very bad overjet and overbite and a huge gap between my front two teeth you could put your little finger through. The orthodontist said at the beginning he would have a tough job on his hands. In two months time my braces are coming off, according to him this am I am nearly there, just a bit of tweaking left. My teeth are straight, no gaps and look fantastic. I never had a problem wearing the braces, had the elastics in for six months and wore them around the clock even though they must have looked funny when i was talking to people. I am between 6 months and a year ahead of schedule.

My best advice to anybody going down this route is pick an experience orthodontist, use the elastics, give up the diet coke and get an electric toothbrust.......Good luck. I am absolutely thrilled with my results.

interesting thread.. ive been wanting to get braces myself for years on my top teeth, im 32 now... my teeth are pretty good overall, i just have one crooked tooth which affects the whole balance of my mouth, smile and has resulted in my two front teeth being slightly unaligned and i quite self conscious about it.. i wish id done it sooner and initally i felt i was too "old" for braces, i had a consutation and they said it'd be a relatively straighforward procedure..

At the glorious age of 50 I have just had train tracks....as I call them fitted two days ago. Boy oh Boy do they hurt right now! I feel like every piece of the brace is scraping the inside of my mouth. I'm feeling like such a crybaby!!

Will be getting bottom braces too but palate at night at the moment so I'm really going to look like Jaws!!! :)

I have to remind myself that there are millions of kids with braces with them on.... And I know it's going to be worth it.

Any tips please to help alleviate the soreness..????
