Car door seal noise

    Hi all,
I have got a 2011 ford s max. It's a great car but there is a noise coming from the door when driving on rough roads. Initially I thought it was the window but have since confirmed its the door seal. Its not a squeak but a dull cushioned sound. It's driving me crazy. Brought car to main dealer and they said to use a bit of vaseline. Did this and it wasn't as bad but didn't last long and vaseline gathered a lot of dirt. Tried silicone spray on the rubber seals and think its worse now. Gotta be a simple fix out there somewhere. Can't use WD40 apparently as it might corrode the seal. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. If I open the door and poke the soft rubber seal I get the same noise. Surely some of you legends out there have seen this before and fixed it. Please let me know how.
    Thanks

Not sure if this will work in your car but Subaru is known for a similar noise.
The remedy then is to force the seal around the door frame out a bit like this
If your car has similar setup you can buy tubing and try

Thanks for your reply. My door seal is different and like a bicycle tube sitting out from door frame. If you squeeze the tube together it sticks for a second before releasing. This is what is making the noise. It seems to be the internals of the seal rather than the exposed rubber. Maybe this is normal and there is too much movement of the door itself causing the seal to shift on bumpy roads.
    Any other ideas.
    Thanks anyway

Einszett Gummi Pflege conditions rubber seals, not sure if it would fix your problem exactly but might be worth a shot.

Thanks for that. I had read about this stuff online but wasn't sure where to get it. Can I use this over the silicone spray or should I remove it. If so how do I get it off. Sorry about all the questions but don't want to make it eorse or damage seals.
    Thanks again.

Before I use it I wipe the seals with an APC/water mix to clean them, I would suggest the same for you to do to. It should lift what you have on them already and allow it soak into the rubber.

APC is All Purpose Cleaner, you can get car specific ones but something like Flash is just as good. I personally use Aldi/Lidl variation. Put it in a spray bottle with 1 part APC and 16 parts water, you can use a stronger/lighter mix but I find 1:16 a good all round mix. You can use the rest of your spray bottle to clean your dash, fabric on seats etc.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll see if I can get the gummi plege locally and try out your suggestions over the weekend. If not I get it from Micks garage. I'll clean the silicone spray off anyway as it didn't help at all.
Surely after this it will be sorted out. How much more can I do. I did see one suggestion of using cookibg oil or olive oil but not sure if this was for the exact same issue.
Anyway might leave that as last measure.

    Cheers

Hi all. Sorry for late reply but here's the conclusion. I ordered the Gummi Pflege as recommended. While I was waiting for it I rubbed fairy liquid onto the rubber seal particularly around the drain holes so that it would get inside the rubber. This actually did the trick and the noise stopped. Not sure how long it would last so I rubbed in the gummi Pflege and no problem since.
Thanks for all the suggestions and advice which helped solve a small but very annoying problem.
    Cheers
