Almost 3 years ago with the help of this forum and Irishmetalhead in particular I bought this -

    CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K (Tray) - €262.39

    SSD: 64GB Crucial RealSSD C300 - €102.85
    HDD: 2TB Samsung Spinpoint F4 EcoGreen - €71.39
Disc Drive: Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7260S - €15.79
    Case: Thermaltake V9 BlacX Edition - €94.92
    PSU: Super-Flower Atlas 680W - €76.93
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium - €84.56

I'm back again :) looking to buy a new gaming rig (giving this one to brother). I would appreciate your input. Details -

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming (FPS - BF4 etc)

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [Yes] Win 8

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

    5. Do you need a monitor? [No] I have 24"

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? 1920x1080

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc.] DVD Drive

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Yes/No] No

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser] Any

    9. When are you purchasing? [In x days] Can purchase this week or next

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? looking to get HW to assemble

Would like a rig better then what I had, ideally i7, min 12gb ram & ssd. Always got NVidia but I think from what I am reading here, the 290 is the best option.

    Thanks in advance

That's still a very solid pc. All it needs is a graphics card upgrade and another 4gb of ram.

Yes it is, but I'm looking for a change and he is looking for something that is solid, so it suits us both :)

Any plans on adding another card down the line. Would need to bump up the motherboard and power supply.

    Any interest in 1440P?

Thanks a lot yawhat. No plans for another card/2nd monitor/1440. Will be happy to max out on one monitor at 1080. Adding Win 8 + assembly costs I could throw another 200 at it, any suggestions?

You could build it in a mini case. I would have to change a couple of things around like the motherboard.

Actually just see you have no plans overclocking so could make it cheaper again. Thats an overclockable processor!
You wouldn't be saving that much and its actually simple to overclock these days so would probably be better off leaving it!

This is pretty much the as suggested, different gfx, please let me know if everything seems ok? Getting Win 8 but probably will regret it :( Can't remember if they fit the cpu, so do I need paste? Thanks

Can anyone confirm that they fit the processor and any issues with the build before I order :)

Its an overclockable processor as well in the build. Could save a few euro but your better off with it, its simple to overclock these days
