when we went out sunday week the 9th of feb ,the cow was after calving ,good big bull calf,he sucked grand and was in with the cow,the Tuesday we got a second calf to suck her so we were only letting the cow in twice a day to the calves, then her calf got a milk scour and calf got weak, got vet ,gave vitamins and antibiotic ,scour cleared ,but in the mean time the calf is now unable to stand ,hes buckling and his joints seem weak, had vet again more shots, vet doesn't want to put him down ,at the minute were milking cow and feeding him but hes making no effort to stand, are we wasting our time,he doesn't seem in pain just unable to put weight on the legs, also the ankles on front legs seem to be curling in under him even when we are holding him up

Throw him under a heat lamp and keep getting milk into him. Also 2cc of vitamin b might pick him up a bit too

Just on the issue of the knuckling: Keep limbering out the joints yourself manually, try and lift the calf a few times a day, even if he can't walk try an get him to stand, and keep at the joints.
    Any swelling in them?
Is he weak from lack of milk or is he getting plenty?

the calf needs energy as well as the milk give him life aid between feeds, someone on here was saying to also give him an egg. If he wont stand put him over a small bale of straw for a little while.

    He needs building up ...

How much feed is he getting ??

Seperate to feeds I'd be giving him 2l electrolyte twice or three times a day.

Feeds I'd be giving 2l morning, 1l lunch and 2l evening, add an egg to the lunch time feed.. Give the electrolyte 20-30 minutes before feeds.

Heat lamp is a must, reduces his energy consumption so he will build up strength quicker...
