So here's the deal. I do some home brewing and have done ales, stouts and IPAs.

Girlfriend is a huge fan of pales ales but the current batch I'm brewing is a wheat beer. She has tried wheat beer once or twice but it never really did it for her.

I got her hooked on pale ales but suggested she try Smithwick's Pale Ale when it was on tap in a hotel we were staying in. SPA is fairly bland and inoffensive imo and now she's a real hophead.

Could anyone recommend a drinkable wheat beer for the newbie I could give her so I can change her mind?! :D

Might make her more open to my brew when it's done then! Thanks.

The education of a newbie to good beers continues...

Schneider-Weisse Tap 7 is best of breed, I think. Or you could try her on a drier less fruity one like Flensburger Weizen.

Or, for a hophead, you could try sneaking a hoppy one in: Schneider Taps 4 and 5 are both excellent.

Good suggestions, I love TAP7 myself. And don't get me started on TAP6! :D

TAP5 seems interesting as you say, could be right up her alley. Plus it has a 50/50 wheat/barley malt split in comparison to the 60/40 of TAP7.

Just checked the Munton's wheat spraymalt I used and it has a 55/45 split.

Co-created by Garrett Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery. The only thing to watch is that it's 8.2% ABV, a lot stronger than regular wheat beers.

Give Fulcrum Wheat Beer a try.

Had one last night and it went down well. It has a very mild apple and clove background taste, very enjoyable.
