The 2014 Tour of Oman started yesterday.
It's Nico's first race of the season and Sam Bennett is also taking part.
Official website here and start list here.

The Tour of Oman is not broadcast live on TV (I think), but Eurosport have a 30 minute highlights show on the day after each stage.

    Stage 1:
Andre Greipel won the mass sprint yesterday. Sam Bennett was 23rd, and Nico was 47th.

    Stage 2:
Alexander Kristoff won Stage 2 today. And Sam Bennett finished a very impressive 10th.

The longest stage of the race is taking place at the moment. There will be a shake up in the GC at the end of the stage.

The Eurosport highlights are dreadful - Carlton Kirby loosing his head at the sprint finish and they insist on playing stupid dramtic music during the racing

Van Avermaet with a 55 second lead on the reduced peleton coming up to the final climb of the day.

Froome putting down a marker over the last climb. Group of 40 together now so we can expect a sprint finish. Sagan is in the group s0 should be his stage to lose. He actually has a 14 second gap with Uran and Nibbles atm

Stage 4 result: 1st Sagan; 2nd Uran; 3rd Nibbles. Nico came 31st, 46 seconds behind Sagan. Pretty decent from him as he's probably riding for Kreuziger. Sam Bennett finished in the grupetto. There is a mountain-top finish tomorrow.

    Stage 5:
Froome won the summit finish up Green Mountain to move into the overall lead and as a result, has won the race. Teejay van Garderen was 22 seconds behind Froome at the summit, and Uran was 33 seconds behind.

He finished 69th, 5'48" behind Froome. Presumably he did a lot of domestique work for Kreuziger.

Sam Bennett 3rd in the final stage with Greipel taking the stage - what a fantastic start he's having to his pro career

Got to see the highlights yesterday evening. It gets good coverage here.

It was amazing to see how these lads cope with the hills we ride at the weekends. Its depressing actually.

Looking at the video Bennett was boxed in until the last 150 metres or so - you can see a slight hesitation just before he found a way out - who knows what he may have managed if he'd got a clear run

Bouhanni isn't familiar with the idea of sprinting in a straight line is he ?
