Gtx 750 ti

Thinking of putting the new gtx 750 ti in my dell inspiron 580. This card looks like it has a huge amount of power for such a budget price and for the size of it. Would you say the stock 350w dell power supply would be grand for this card? None of the power calculators online seem to have added in the gtx 750 ti..

The dell manual says it's only a 300 watt psu:
    ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_inspiron_desktop/inspiron-580_user's guide_en-us.pdf

Still that seems like it ought to be plenty. Your cpu is i3-550 which is only 73 watts TDP, and the 750ti can't draw more than 75 watts from the PCI-E connector. Everything else should only be a few watts.

Amazing graphics power to watt ratio on those, you can't go wrong and you should be fine with even a ****ty psu.

Yeah, I think the 750ti is going to dominate the market for upgraders with older machines / weak psus. It's by far the strongest card that won't need a PSU upgrade or 6-pin power connector. AMD has better price/performance options but not once you factor in cost of a new PSU.

Yeah, and with this bitcoin craze pushing the prices up on all the AMD cards the 750Ti will be a good cheap little card

How is bitcoin pushing up the price of AMD cards?

That sounds very interesting, any link to an article?

It's not bitcoin, nobody is mining it on GPUs any more, it's not viable.

It's other crypocurrencies like litecoin, they're still at a stage where you can use a GPU.

Yeah, I meant coin mining in general.

She's cuttin' well, eh I haven't tried any games yet, I'm just trying some mining atm, the overclocking potential is amazing, GPU: +110MHz (1398MHZ) MEM: +750 (3450MHz) @45′;C I'm getting 330kh/s with cudaminer for anyone interested.

I have to say nice card and for the price and benchmarks I have saw it's a good deal . Maxwell could make a mini itx build a great option . Plus it could also mean better gpu's for laptops .

    To the Moon!

I ran 3D mark and got these results at stock speed:

*pretty much no difference in the scores when the card is overclocked.

Do me a favour and do a 3D Mark 11 run? Really not familiar with the new 3D Mark scores.

    Overall P5483
    Graphics Score 5903
    Physics Score 4473
    Combined Score 4591

Not bad at all! That pretty impressive for a €140 card.

The R9 270 is still a better option for that money imo unless you don't have the power requirements for it.
