I'm a student at WIT, and I'll be entertaining someone for 3 days (Friday morning-Monday Morning) around the area. (She is not from the country).

Any good advice on where to go? I've got transport so can drive around as far as is needed.

They've been once before and have seen things like the Waterford Crystal, reginalds tower etc.

I'm thinking maybe further afield, but have no clue where to go.

Budget for the weekend is circa 250 euros.

A trip along the coast road to Dungarvan is quite nice followed by a detour back into Lismore would make for a lovely day

The Hook peninsula, lighthouse, Lofus Hall, Tintern Abbey.....all located within a few miles of each other.

All of the above, also Comeraghs, Mahon Falls... Mount Congreve is fabulous but maybe not open this time of year.

Other lovely spots up KK way too - Inistioge, Graiguenamanagh and of course KK city itself. Kells priory might be of interest (I didn't think it was any more special than any other ruin, but apparently for those who know what they're looking at, it's got unique features - you'd have to read up more).

Dunmore of course, just for a walk - my favourite place anywhere. If you go to the Hook, you should make a quick diversion up to Cheekpoint just to see the lovely river scenery around there.

Great suggestions thank you. Looking to be able to weave it into this long weekend. I think a trip to KK is on the cards as I've never really been myself, and I'm sure there is a lot to see.

New Ross (Dunbrody Famine Ship), Kennedy Arboretum (if they're into trees) and, as already suggested, the Hook peninsula.

    start in Waterford City -
Waterford Crystal - great tour of the factory
    Reginalds Tower - Viking History
Medieval Museum - get the escorted tour with the mayor of Waterford from 1650 - James Rice
Bishops Palace - my favourite - escorted tour by the housekeeper and butler of the house - very funny -
4 of those will fill your day -
take in Christchurch cathedral - esp the tombs
Kite Design for designer glass & crafts
walking tour of Waterford with Jack Burchall
and im sure there is more -

Eat on a Budget at Geoffs, Revolution, Kazbar
restaurants - go for early bird menus - max €20 pp in Bodega, Sabai, Espresso, La Palma etc

    Enjoy Waterford City!

The maze at Dunbrody is fun.

Waterford Castle on the ferry is a nice novelty tospot some deer.

The coast road to Dungarvan is a lovely run.

The view from the Seanachai above Ring looking back over Dungarvan is stunning.

    All around the Comeraghs.

Crough Woods at Mahon is s beautiful little woods.

Dunmore is the jewel in the crown.

I'd definitely recommend the cliff walk in Dunmore if it's any kind of a nice day.

Well you've mentioned it now! The prom is nice, and the Doneraile walk is stunning - definitely one for the OP to consider.

The sandhills make for a fantastic walk, but personally I'd be waiting until summer to do it.
