An unusual situation with a rented house

I live in shared rented accommodation. Recently, my house mate had the place inspected because he didn't think the house was up to scratch. Sure enough, it wasn't, and now the PRTB have given the landlord until the end of March to remedy the situation or he will no longer be allowed to rent out the property. So I'm wondering, if he fails to meet the deadline, how would it affect me? If I stayed in the house while the landlord is prohibited from renting it, could he consider me a trespasser?

I don't think that this has anything to do with the PRTB, but a council inspector.

Do you know what the issues are with the house?

If the house was not up to standard why would you want to stay - apart from the rent possibly being very cheap?

If the council put a ban on the house (probably for health and safety reasons) being used as rented accommodation then you will have to find a new place to live.

Yeah it's cheap and I'm not fussy. :) Very convenient location too. I was considering, if the landlord does end up barred from renting it out, offering to occupy the house as a caretaker (paying bills but not rent) until such time as the place is marketable again. Good idea?

If there is no progress, you can make a complaint to the PRTB for compensation.

If he is prohibited from renting then he will have to ask you to leave as otherwise he is in breach of the law. If you refuse to go then you are a treespasser

If the landlord complies with a direction from PRTB there will be no compensation. If he doesn't comply he is liable to penalties and prosecution.
