Concrete water troughs with only hole for 1/2 ballcock? Anyone drill these bigger ??

Has anyone any experience with enlarging hole on concrete water troughs to take 3/4 inch ballcock fitting.

All my plastic water-troughs were easy to drill with standard drill bit.

I have taken a bit of land with small water troughs all with holes for 1/2 fittings - rather than face buying troughs I am thinking of drilling them with battery SDS drill - but these troughs are old and might be just 2 brittle,

Has anyone here tried making these holes larger?

If you have a bit big enough drill but don't use the hammer action and light enough pressure.

You can get a converter 1/2 to 3/4. Would that not be easier?

Thanks but water flow is the issue all the pipes are 3/4 but it is the 1/2 ballcock that i am trying to get rid of.( had a few of these small troughs at home but they are long gone
I have use of these troughs but if I break them trying to drill them then I will have to replace them.

Years ago I put in 7 newzealand high speed ballcocks 1/2 inch this solved the problem at home where there was high water pressure but they constantly leaked luckily the troughs were plastic so these troughs are now drilled and have 3/4 inch high output ballcocks.

Why not put the medium pressure inserts into the half inch ballcocks?
It makes a big difference and only costs penny's.
Just a pain of a job as you still have to disassemble the ballcock but simpler than drilling

If it's near the top cut out a slot for ballcock from the top down couple big washers and tighten up.
Easier to cut than Bust the side open tryin to drill
