My eyesight is dimming or TG4 SD is getting worse but with the hurling I am loosing track of the ball and its really irritating. On SETANTA for the Tipp V Waterford game it was a joy but that was under lights and may have helped. I must admit saying setanta has good picture quality is something else but so be it.

To get TG4HD on upc would I have to subscribe to the top package and is it available to all upc locations, viz old chorus ones and so on. I was under the impression that TG4HD was only available to Dublin customers as they had the necessary boxes.

Its hard to believe it joined upc in october 2012 and still not on saorview.

There is no extra cost to get TG4 HD (ie you do not have to subscribe to HD channels to get it). This is written in the Broadcasting legislation. You would need a UPC HD box and have the digital service available in your area.

I'd advise you to wait. It will be on Saorview soon.

    Moved to Cable

It is available to all viewers with a HD STB - but you are not guaranteed a HD STB unless you take either Horizon or HD.

How much content on TG4 HD is true HD? (Especially interested in whether the foreign films they show are HD or upscaled?)

I have my doubts. There is no reason for it not to be there now. It wouldn't surprise me if UPC has some sort of exclusivity deal.
