just wondering what is the minimum size generator you would want to power angle grinders, drills etc. want a portable one that if I wanted to use the angle grinder in the field all I would have to do is plug it into the generator. I suppose one with a good engine that starts is a must too so when you come to it you don't spend a day trying to get it to start.

just out of curiosity what size one then would you need for an oil welder aswell 180amp.

3.5 kva would be good enough. Genuine Honda engine.

It's not a good idea to run a welder on any generator.

A 3kva generator will see you right for plug in equipment, if you want to weld you would be better with a welder generator.
Whatever you do buy a quality brand,go for a Honda, too much muck out there which packs in too quickly...

Only one with Honda engine the rest are scrap trust me. Forget welding with one they don't have the power unless inverter welder. Maybe a welder generator? Dearer and a heavy brute and gulpin on petrol but if you plan to do welding in fields for gates throw it into the power box and off ya go

My brother uses a Honda suitcase generator for work, very neat, silent and you can carry it with one hand ... No idea how much power it kicks out but it runs on a sniff of petrol ...
