Venue Price Difference

Folks, forgive me if I word this wrongly but perhaps someone can help,
We are getting married this year and we booked our venue last year, paid the deposit and have since been 'paying money off'. We haven't signed any contracts or anything but we have had various communication with the hotel about different things.
Now the package wedding we are going to have with the hotel is significantly cheaper this year (according to their brochure for this year) than what we were looking at last year. I don't want to talk to the hotel about this yet and I know prices vary depending on guest numbers etc, but I'm wondering if anyone else had something like this also?
Not a massive issue either way, but which do you think it might be, as I said no contracts as yet, but we are going for our 'tasting' soon and perhaps it might be mentioned then.....no clue!

I had a similar issue (a bulkier package for the same price as ours) and put it to them. They included a good few extras to bulk up my package so we were delighted.

I watched the new brochures like a hawk to compare.

My hotel changed also. They added things for free that we paid extra for but took things off which are still on ours. I did speak to the person about it but I knew anyway that it basically balanced itself out.

One way to look at it is that you signed a contract and they can stick to it if they wish but speak to them and see what happens.

I doubt you're the first to call them either.

You haven't signed a contract yet?! Is there a reason for that?

well no one has asked us. We have a confirmation email from them and they called me last week to tell me they were organising a menu tasting session for us - we have 2/3's of the cost (the 2013 price paid)..

    Should I be worried???

Well I wouldn't be worried, but a contract is there to protect you as much as the hotel so it'd be in your best interests to chase them to get them to sign one with you.

It would be sensible to get a contract.. I would arrange this ahead of anything else. It is far more important for you than the hotel to have one.

Approach them again and finalise the contract and get it signed.

I personally wouldn't pay off any more money than I need to. You give them all the power then and if anything goes wrong you haven't got your biggest tool to wave at them. That would be just my opinion though.

I would def look for a contract too if you are handing over money.

Why wouldn't they have given one anyway?? That's strange

This is very strange for me and whatever about the couple booking who might not know they need it the hotels always get them so they can refer to it in case if dispute.
