Mk2 Octavia cold start slight backfire

    Hi,

    07 Octavia MK2 has developed a very slight SINGLE backfire on every cold start.
    I may be describing this badly when I say backfire.It is not a bang - its more of a single stutter. Never happens after car has been driven that day - even if its left standing for hours.

    This started a few weeks ago and since then I have serviced it and replaced the plugs. Only other thing I can think of is that I recently replaced a coil that failed(bosch) and the problem started shortly after that.

    Should I leave it alone or is it a symtom that needs to be tackled before it gets worse? Or is this one for a real mechanic and a tune up?

    EDIT - just realised this is the original battery. Betting its on its way out and cranking too much before it fires first time in morning, mixture too rich. Will test battery and replace.
