I have a pair of Meindl Army pro but they're showing signs of heavy scratches across the top of the boot after beating heavy cover - briars and the like. I don't want to feck these Meindls up prematurely so looking for an alternative that will take this type of abuse.

German army boots-semi water proof ,comfortable ,pretty indestructible and relatively cheap.
would be ideal for crashing through briars and heavy cover

Aldi steel toe S3 safety boots - tough as the proverbial and almost waterproof.

A pair of leggings would be handy for briars I use them all the time especially during the game season.

No leather is thorn proof, It'll get torn up over time.

Before the start of the season A bought a pair of British Army Pro Boots, for £30 they are great value. Goretex lined and comfortable, I smothered them in boot polish and meindl boot wax and they are a mighty job. The vibram sole on these on these are like wearing a pair of spikes they don't slip.

Couple of weeks ago I lost the head completely and invested in a brand new pair of German Paratrooper boots £115. These are made for the German Army by either HAIX or Meindl. The leather is pretty much waterproof but just for good measure I've used plenty of dubbin to soften them out a bit and polish and boot wax to waterproof them.

The army surplus boots are easy to clean as they don't have as much stitching as say Meindl Dovre Extremes which makes them easy to clean. Just hose them off.

I just rub the polish and boot wax on to the boots layering it the more layers of it you have on the more it protects the leather

I also have a pair of Meindl dovre extreme boots but after a couple of seasons the feckin things are cracked and about to start leaking a sickener. i'll be going with army surplus in future.

Deeksofdoom, where did you get these boots from? I have been on the look out for these army boots but the only place I see them is on ebay and the postage makes them more expensive.

    Thanks

I only use the German paratrooper boots that deeks posted about they are €95 new in army surplus shop in limerick city. Would not use anything else ever. Can get them a little cheaper second hand in same shop. I have 2 pairs going one for hunting and one for general use. Put bridgedale summit socks with them and you will never have cold or wet feet ever again.

Got them from this crowd, £89.99.

They were sent via parcel motel, which works out cheaper than having them posted directly from the UK.

Postage was £5.99 and parcel motel €3.50.
